ADRIANA CAMILE

I was born and raised in San Francisco. As a child, I started collecting and pressing flowers, a practice that has slowly evolved throughout my life. Through my work, I strive to create an extension to the natural world through a kind of visual poetry that brings moments of peace, whimsy, and rest. Using other mediums like painting, drawing, and handwork, helps to guide my exploration of beauty and balance through movement and color. I use paper and transparent fabric to make small and large-scale wall pieces and mobiles. My work is deeply inspired by the environment that surrounds us, especially from the two places I call home: Northern California and Slovenia.

I received training at the San Francisco City College floristry program and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in Anthropology and Humanities. I spent my childhood in my parents’ studio, both artists and craftsmen, where I observed them in their daily work and lent a helping hand where I could. During my time as a Waldorf student (K-12) I learned a vast array of practical art skills and techniques, and most importantly an appreciation of beauty and harmony in the world, especially in nature. I currently live in Ljubljana, Slovenia, a beautiful place where the Adriatic Sea meets the Alps, also my motherland. When my hands are not busy at work, you can find me wandering and wondering…
